Sales - How to Add a Lead to a Sequence
Steps, tips, best practices on how to add a lead to a sequence or set up a new sequence.
About Inbound Leads from the Website or Customer Service
When a prospect completes a website form relevant to sales, HubSpot automatically assigns it to a contact owner (alternating between owners) and makes it a Lead. The prospect receives an email from the contact owner and the sales team receives a notification that a Lead has been assigned to the contact owner. The Lead will appear on your sales dashboard. If the Lead is the existing customer of someone else, the lead should be reassigned.
If the Lead is received through the Customer Engagement Team via phone, email or webform, a HubSpot Ticket will be created and assigned to the Advertising and Sponsorship Specialist.
The Advertising and Sponsorship Specialist will take the ticket and create a Lead and assign it to the appropriate Sales Manager, then close the ticket.
Lead Actions
There are two actions you can take "Reach Out" or "Add to a Sequence." Unless you have enough information to add the prospect to a sequence, click "Reach Out."
If you want to add the customer to a sequence before you reach out, click "Add to a Sequence" and select the appropriate sequence. If you want to reach out directly, follow these instructions on What to Do After Receiving a Lead.

Step 1: Enrolling a lead in a sequence
To enroll a lead in a sequence, go to the sales workspace, click the summary tab and click "Enroll new Contact in a Sequence." To view available sequences or to add a new sequence click "Manage Sequences"

There are sequences already built in HubSpot or you can choose to create a new one. If you choose to use an existing sequence, periodically review it to ensure the information is still current and relevant. Note: The owner of the sequence may have personalized their messages. To create your own, you can clone the sequence and add your own personalization to the messages.

Step 2: Viewing a Sequence
If you click on the name of a sequence, you can view the messages within it by clicking the steps tab.

After viewing a sequence and determining it's right for you, you can enroll a single contact or multiple contacts in the sequence. You will need to connect inbox to Hubspot in order to do this.
