Microchip Lookup Tool
Use this to help assist members with the Microchip Look Up Tool
Please note that AAHA is not a microchip registry. We do not have the ability to review or update owner contact information, nor can we contact a microchip company on behalf of a pet owner. Any updates or changes to the registration must be made directly through the registry company listed in the results.
The AAHA Microchip Registry Lookup Tool is designed to help identify the registry where your pet's microchip is enrolled.
The first step is to scan the animal to detect if a microchip has been implanted. Generally this can be done at a veterinarian's office, animal shelter, or the animal control department of your local government. The microchip scanner will display the 9-, 10-, or 15-digit microchip number, which you will need for the Microchip Lookup Tool.
Go to the Microchip Registry Lookup Tool and enter your pet's microchip in the relevant field and press "Search."

If the microchip has been enrolled with one of the many microchip registry companies who share data with us, the results will display:
- Last date the registration was updated or enrolled
- The associated registry's contact information
You will then need to contact the company or companies listed directly for owner information.

Some microchips are implanted but never registered with any microchip registry. When this occurs, the Microchip Lookup Tool may instead identify a manufacturer or distributor who sold the chip. You will then need to contact these companies directly to request “trackback” information, which may help locate who implanted or bought the chip, or pet owner information.

Some microchips—especially those beginning with “900”— are not associated with a specific manufacturer or registry company. If a microchip is unregistered and has no listed manufacturer, it is essentially a "blank" microchip and the tool will generate a partial list of participating registries where you can enroll your pet.

AAHA does not endorse any specific microchip registry, and we encourage all pet owners to research their options, as price plans and benefits may vary across registry companies.
